إن العناية في كتاب الله عز وجل من أجل ما يقوم به المسلم, وإنه لا يعرف كتاب في العالم منذ بدء الخليقة, إلى يومنا هذا وإلى قيام الساعة, نال من العناية والاهتمام كما نال القرآن الكريم, لأن خدمته عبادة, والقيام بشأنه قيام بحق الألوهية. لا جرم أن كل العلوم التي كانت بعد القرآن الكريم لم تكن إلا من أجل خدمة القرآن الكريم. فعلوم العربية جميعها: لغتها, ونحوها, وصرفها, وبيانها, وبديعها, ومعانيها, وأدبها, كان خدمة للقرآن. و الأصول, والفقه, وعلوم الحديث, كل ذلك كان لخدمة القرآن. والقراءات والتجويد, ومخارج الحروف وصفاتها, كانت خدمة للقرآن الكريم, وبهذا يفهم معنى قوله تعالى: (إنّا نحن نزلنا الذكر وإنا له لحافظون) وكان ممن خدم علم القراءات مؤلف هذا الكتاب, فقد قام بتخريج القراءات, وبيان الخلاف وتوجيهه في ذلك, ومن خيرة ما كتب, هذا الكتاب الذي وضع على هامش القرآن الكريم لمعرفة القراءات بأسلوب سهل, لأن الذين يقرؤون القرآن الكريم ليسوا كلهم على معرفة في علم العربية ولكنهم جميعاً على معرفة في قراءة المشكول. وبهذا ونحوه ينتشر علم القراءات الذي كان في أسماع الناس عندما يسمعون قراءة تخالف قراءة حفص. شاذة بل منكرة, وذلك أنهم ليسوا على شيء من معرفة القراءات.
