من أدق المباحث في القرآن الكريم, والقضايا الهامة المتصلة به, والتي اهتم العلماء بها قديماً وحديثاً, مبحث القرآن الكريم بالرسم العثماني. رسم القرآن الكريم سنة واجبة الاتباع, لكونه أمر توفيقي, لأنه كتب كله في عهد النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام على هذا الرسم الذي نسب لأمير المؤمنين عثمان بن عفان فيما بعد, لكن غير مجموع في مصحف مرتب فيه, وكتب بأمره عليه السلام, وكان يكتب في زمن النبي عليه السلام على الأكتاف, وقطع الجلود, واللخاف. ومعلوم من فن الأصول, أن كل ما فعله بحضرته صلى الله عليه وسلم وأقره, سنة واجبة الاتباع, لأن سنته: قول, أو فعل, أو إقرار, كما تقرر في محله. وقد اجتمع في رسم القرآن: القول, والإقرار. فالشأن فيه كله التوقيف كترتيبه الآن في المصحف, فهو بإشارة منه عليه الصلاة والسلام. وإنما لم يجمع في مصحف واحد في زمن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لغرضين: أولاهما: كون الجمع الغرض منه, الحفظ خوف النسيان, أو خوف النزاع حيث الشك في لفظ آية, وكلا الأمرين مأمون لوجود النبي عليه السلام, وثانيهما: هي خوف النسخ بوحي يطرأ نزوله, فلا ينبغي أن يجمع إلا ما لا ينسخ. فرسم القرآن الكريم سنة يجب اتباعها شرعاً: كتاباً, وسنة, وإجماعاً, كما هو مروي عن الأئمة الأربعة.
