إن الاهتمام بتكريم من يستحقون من أبناء الأمة من شأنه أن يرفع من شأن هذه الأمة، وخاصة فى مجالات الشعر والأدب والفن والفكر، وهو مقياس حاسم لمدى تقدمها ورقيها وحضارتها، كما أنه عامل مؤكد فى تحقيق نهضتها فى المجالات المادية والمعنوية؛ ذلك لأن النابهين من أبناء الأمة – وخاصة الشعراء والكتاب والفنانين – هم رصيد من أرصدة ثروتها البشرية، والمادية والمعنوية. كما أن هذا التكريم يعود بالخير العظيم – المادى والمعنوى – على هذه الأمة، من حيث أنه يساهم مساهمة فعالة فى تهذيب نفوس المواطنين، وفى الارتفاع بمستويات السلوك – الوطنى والاجتماعى والأخلاقى – لتلك المجتمعات.
