نشأ عبدالله جمعة المضاحكة في قرية صغيرة في الجزء الشمالي من قطر، وتلقّى تعليمه الأساسي في دولة قطر؛ التحق بالجيش القطري عام1984. وتخرّج من أكاديميّة ساندهورت العسكريّة الملكية في المملكة المتحدة. ثم خضع في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية. Fort Benning Georgia لتدريب عسكري عالي المستوى في كليّة وهو رجلٌ واسع الاطلاع؛ وقد وفّرت له السنين الخمس عشرة التي أمضاها في الجيش فرصة للسفر إلة مختلف أقطار العالم، فضلاً عن الفرصة للتعرّف على مختلف الثقافات والأديان والإثنيّات.
و قد أغنى ذلك فهمه للحضارات والثقافات والأديان المختلفة؛ وخاصّةً منها الإسلام والمسيحيّة واليهوديّة. وفي كتابه هذا، ينظر الكاتب إلى الأمور ليس من وجهة نظر عربيّة وإسلاميّة، فحسب؛ بل أيضاً من منظوريات مسيحية ويهودية وغربية. وهو يؤمن بتساوي كل البشر، وبأنّه لا يصحّ الحكم على النّاس تبعاً لأعمالهم فقط.
ويرى الكاتب أن الصراع مع اليهود (الإسرائيليين) قد أصبح أكثر وضوحاً أمام الشعوب. فالمسألة الفلسطينيّة لم تعد قضيّة فلسطينيّة وعربيّة وإسلاميّة فحسب، بل تعدّت ذلك لتصبح شعلة أمل للعالم بأسره. ونحن نقترب من مفترق الطرق لنختار بين الحريّة والتبعيّة، والسؤال الذي يطرح نفسه هنا: هل نقبل بأن يصبح اليهود القوّة العظمى الوحيدة في العالم؟
