الصحابة أعلم الأمة وأفقهها وأدينها، وقد أحسن الإمام المطَّلبي أبو عبد الله الشَّافعي رحمه الله تعالى في قوله: "هم فوقنا في كلِّ علمٍ، وإجتهادٍ، وورعٍ، وعقلٍ، وأمرٍ استُدرك به علمٌ واستُنبط به، وآراؤهم لنا أحمدُ وأولى بنا من آرائنا عندنا لأنفسنا، والله أعلم، ومَن أدركنا ممن أرضى أو حُكي لنا عنه ببلدنا: صاروا - فيما لم يعلموا لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فيه سُنَّة - إلى قولهم إن اجتمعوا، أو قول بعضهم إن تفرَّقوا.
وهذا الموضوع - رغم أهميَّته وعِظَم الأثر المترتِّب عليه من الناحية العمليَّة التطبيقيَّة - إلا أنه لم يُتناوَل بالدَّرس والتحليل بالقدر الذي يرفع عنه اللَّبس والغموض والإشكال، ممَّا يستدعي دراسةً علميةً تأصيليةً تُجلي ذلك كلَّه.
أهمية هذا البحث، وأسباب اختياره: 1-ضرورة التمييز بين الأقوال المرفوعة للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والأقوال الموقوفة، فالأولى حجةٌ مطلقاً، ويلزم العمل بها بلا نزاع بين أهل العلم، خلافاً للثانية ففي حجيتها تفصيل وخلاف، 2-أقوال الصحابة التي قيل بأن لها حكم الرفع لها مكانةٌ رفيعةٌ، مع كثرتها وتنوعها في شتى المجالات: في تفسير القرآن الكريم وأسباب النزول، والتحليل والتحريم، والغيبيات... إلخ، لذا كان من الأهمية وجود دراسة علمية موثقة تُحَرِّر هذا الأمر مع بيان ضوابطه من خلال النظر في الشواهد والأمثلة التطبيقيَّة، 3-ما يكتنف هذا الموضوع من إشكالات، لعدم وضوح معالمه، وحاجته للتحرير العلمي، مع توسع الإستدلال به على كثير من المسائل لدى المعاصرين، 4-من موانع الحكم بالرفع لقول الصحابي عند كثير من العلماء المتأخّرين: كونه ممن يأخذ عن أهل الكتاب، وهذا يستدعي تحريراً لرواية الصحابة عن أهل الكتاب، وبيان حقيقة موقفهم من تراث أهل الكتاب "الإسرائيليات"، 5-لم أجد مؤلِّفاً يجمع شتات هذا الموضوع، ويلمّ بكافة فروعه ومسائله، مع التحرير والتمثيل.
