يتناول النقاش في هذا الكتاب كيفية تمكن حزب الله من تعديل هويته في المراحل الثلاث من عمله: مرحلة التأسيس كحركة إسلامية معترضة (1978- 1984)، ثم حركة إجتماعية ناضجة (1984-1991)، ثم حزب سياسي برلماني.
يتناول النقاش في هذا الكتاب كيفية تمكن حزب الله من تعديل هويته في المراحل الثلاث من عملية: مرحلة التأسيس كحركة إسلامية معترضة (1978- 1984)، ثم حركة إجتماعية ناضجة (1984- 1991)، ثم حزب سياسي برلماني.
حاول حزب الله المحافظة على هويته الإسلامية والعمل في الوقت نفسه ضمن إطار سيادة الدولة، على هذه الأسس، أعترف حزب الله بالدولة اللبنانية.
وعلى الرغم من وجود تحالف إستراتيجي إيديولوجي مع إيران وشراكة إستراتيجية سياسية مع سوريا، إلا أن هذا الكتاب يسعى إلى إثبات أن حزب الله لا يشكل أداة سياسية بين الأيدي السورية والإيرانية، بل واصل حزب الله نهجاً مستقلاً في إتخاذ القرارات يلائم خصوصية المعادلة السياسية اللبنانية.
حتى تمكن في أيار الــ2008، من الحصول على الثلث المعطل في مجلس الوزراء، ليفرض سيطرته على السلطة التنفيذية للحكومة وعلى السلطة السياسية بشكل أوسع.
