غدت الفترة الأخيرة محكومة بالبحث العلمي ومتطلباته، لذلك أراد الإهتمام البالغ في جامعاتنا العربية بتقنيات الكتابة ومهاراتها وفنونها وأشكالها.
وبناء على هذا غدا مقرر الكتابة ومهارات التحرير العربي متطلباً جامعياً أساساً للطلاب، ومن ثم جاء كتاب "فنون الكتابة ومهارات التحرير"؛ ليسهم في مساعدة الطلاب على تأصيل مهاراتهم الكتابية وترسيخها، وتدريبهم عملياً على ممارسة الأنشطة التعبيرية بإستراتيجياتها وأشكالها المختلفة، ليكونوا قادرين على التعبير عن مشاعرهم وأفكارهم وتصوير خيالاتهم بلغة صحيحة، لتبليغ القارئ رسالتهم واضحة وسليمة، مما يؤثر فيه ويقنعه، ومن ثم تكون رسالتهم على هذا النحو فاهمة مفهمة في آن.
وفي ضوء هذا ارتسمت خطة الكتاب، وحدد منهجه، فعرضت موضوعاته في إطار فصلين، يتناول منها الفصل الأول: ضوابط الكتابة الصحيحة، ويتفرع إلى ثلاثة مباحث: الأول منها، يعالج ضوابط الرسم الكتابي، والثاني يعرض علامات الترقيم والثالث، يرصد بعض الألفاظ والأساليب اللغوية التي يحتاج إليها الطلاب في كتاباتهم.
أما الفصل الثاني، فيركز على فنون الكتابة من حيث المجالات والمهارات، ويتوزع في ثلاثة مباحث الأول منها يسلط الضوء على التعبير الوظيفي، والثاني، ينهض بتوضيح التعبير العلمي، وهو بين الإبداعي والوظيفي والثالث، يشرح التعبير الإبداعي.
