تقدم موسوعة الفكر العربي الحديث تغطية شاملة, ومتتابعة زمنياً لمناحي ومحاور الفكر العربي الحديث وقضاياه, في الفترة ما بين عامي (1800-2000) ومنهجها في ذلك هو تقديم هذه المناحي والمحاور, أو هذه القضايا بطريقة متسلسلة حوارياً وزمنياً, ومرتبة حسب موضوعاتها, وعبر مختلف وجهات النظر, منذ نشأت هذه القضايا والموضوعات, الى أن استقرت, ودخلت في نسيج الثقافة العربية الحديثة, أو في سلسلتها الثقافية المتجددة. في سبيل ذلك قام المحرر بتتبع هذه الموضوعات في المصادر الأساسية من مجلات وكتب, ثم رتبت هذه القضايا في محاور عامة, ومحاور خاصة على الشكل التالي: الموضوعات العامة: الإصلاح والنهضة, الشرق والغرب, القديم والجديد. الموضوعات المحددة: وتقسم الى محورين: محور اجتماعي, ومحور ثقافي. المحور الثقافي ويشتمل على: نظرية الشعر, نظرية الرواية, قضية الفلسفة, نظرية المسرح, نظرية النقد, نظرية اللغة. ثم تأتي المناحي أوالقضايا الاجتماعية وتشتمل على: القومية والوحدة, قضية الاشتراكية, قضية المرأة, قضية الحريات العامة, حرية الاعتقاد الديني. لقد صدرت أجزاء هذه المجموعة متفرقة ما بين عامي (1989-2001) ضمن سلسلة قضايا وحوارات النهضة العربية.
