لما كان من الصعب على القراء الأكارم الحصول على نسخ أصلية من الكتب النادرة والقديمة ولما كانت العبرة فيما تحتويه هذه الكتب من معلومات قيمة وربما طريفة تدل على ما كانت عليه الأحوال في زمن كتابتها دأبت دار النوادر على اصدار هذه الكتب مما تحصل عليه من كتب نادرة ومخطوطات أصلية حتى يتمكن الجميع من الاطلاع عليها والكتاب الذي بين يدينا واحد من هذه الكتب وفيه: حياة النهضة الإسلامية تجلت في إدارة الدول العربية وما عرض لها من تطورات, فكانت الدولة في عهد الخلفاء الراشدين أفضل إدارة, وأجل حكومة عرفت. وما يهم هو معرفة إدارة الدول التالية, ودرجة أخذها بنصيب من هذه الإدارة الفاضلة, وما قامت به من مثل أعلى في الحالات التطبيقية, فكان الانكشاف في دولة بني العباس أكبر, ونضج الفكرة أعم وأشمل ساعد على ذلك ذيوع الثقافة, وسيرها نحو الكمال. ومن ثم شعرنا بالحاجة الى المعرفة وصار التطلع الى الأغراض واضحة, لا تشوبها شائبة. غير أن الغموض لا يزال يسود تأريخ بني العباس خاصة من نواح كثيرة لما يحيط به في مختلف عهوده من الأهواء, ولما يحفه من الأوضاع, ويعتريه من الإبهام لما كان له من استقلال, ولما طرأ عليه من تحكم واستغلال أو تغلب. وقد تم العثور على جملة صالحة من المؤلفات التأريخية في أخبار الدولة العباسية, ومن جملتها هذا الكتاب.
