هذا الكتاب مطالعة شرعية في قانون حماية المرأة من العنف السري، وهو موضوع محاضرة للشيخ محمد علي الحاج العاملي، ألقاها في الجامعة الأميركية - بيروت، في 29 تشرين الثاني 2011، وموضوعها يتعلق بحماية المرأة من العنف الأسري، والإتجاه لإقرار قانون يجرم العنف ضد المرأة.
وفي هذا الإطار يقف المؤلف عند النقاط الحساسة في هذا القانون حيث تم التوقف على المادة الثانية، وعلى المادة الثالثة، في فقراتها: (4 ، 5، 10) ومناقشتها ثم أقوال المعترضين على القانون والرد عليها، من كتاب الله (القرآن الكريم) والحديث الشريف لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأئمة أهل البيت عليهم السلام، بعد ذلك تمت مناقشة رافضي القانون وأسباب رفضهم له ومن بين تلك الإعتراضات، أ- تقليص دور المحاكم الدينية في المادة (1) والمادة (26) التي جعلت "المحاكم الدينية هي المرجع الصالح في حالة تعارض هذا القانون وقوانين المحاكم الدينية ..."، ب - منع الرجل من حقه في ضرب زوجته، حيث يناقش المؤلف معنى الآية الكريمة "فعظوهن واهجروهن في المضاجع واضربوهن" ويورد آراء علماء وآخرون في تفسيرها ثم يجيب على أسئلة الحضور ويضع في الكتاب (ارشادات لعلاقات أسرية سليمة) حول اختيار الشريك والتفاهم بدلاً من العنف والصبر والإلتزام بالواجبات غيرها من ضوابط الأخلاقية.
