للجماعة السلفية وجود قوي داخل المجتمع الكويتي. وقد أخذت تكسب مساحة واسعة على المساحة الكويتية بعد تراجع التجمعات والحركات التقدمية بدءاً من هزيمة العرب في الخامس من يونيو 1967 التي أدت إلى تراجع الخطاب السياسي القومي. يتناول د.فلاح عبد الله المديرس في هذا الكتاب دراسة حول هذه الجماعة؛ نشأتها وتطورها في الكويت، هذه الجماعة التي ظهرت في منتصف الستينات من هذا الزمن، أي منذ عام 1965، وهو عام تأسيس "الجماعة السلفية" في الكويت وحتى الوقت الحاضر (1999) وسوف تسلط هذه الدراسة الضوء على مواقف "الجماعة السلفية" من قضايا المجتمع، كذلك الدور السياسي الذي قامت به في مراحل ما قبل الاحتلال العراقي للكويت، وخلال فترة الاحتلال وما بعد التحرير.
