يتضمن هذا الكتاب الأفكار والطروحات التي قدّمت خلال ما يسعى (مؤتمر هرتزيليا السادس - ميزان المناعة والأمن القومي في إسرائيل)، والذي عقد في مطلع العام 2006.
وكعادتهم منذ عدة سنوات، قدم الباحثون والسياسيون والعسكريون الصهاينة تحليلاتهم أو تصوراتهم حيال تزايد ما يسمّونه خطر "الإرهاب الإسلامي" المتصاعد ضدهم وضد حليفتهم إدارة بوش الإرهابية بإمتياز، مع تقديمهم السبل الأنسب لمكافحة هذا الخطر!.
كما تطرق المؤتمرون إلى الأوضاع الداخلية في الكيان، على الصعد الإقتصادية والإجتماعية، وإلى علاقات إسرائيل الخارجية، وبالأخص مع الولايات المتحدة والإتحاد الأوروبي، لكن الأساس في أوراق العمل التي قدّمت وكذلك في المناقشات - تمحور حول قضية الصراع مع الشعب الفلسطيني والتي مضى عليها عقود طويلة من دون أن يتمكن الصهاينة من تصفيتها، أو من فرض حل يتناسب مع مصالحهم وتصوراتهم المشوّهة لهذه القضية المقدسة التي يتزايد الإحتضان العربي والإسلامي والعالمي لها يوماً بعد يوم.
إن المتابع لتطورات الصراع المفتوح مع إسرائيل، سواء في فلسطين المحتلة أو خارجها، يدرك حراجة موقف الصهاينة وشعورهم بالخطر الوجودي الواقعي على كيانهم، بسبب إستمرار الإنتفاضة الفلسطينية ووصول حركة حماس إلى السلطة من جهة، ومن جرّاء تنامي نفوذ القوى الإسلامية والحركات "القومية" المعادية لــ"إسرائيل" على مستوى المنطقة عموماً (والدول الداعمة لها أي إيران وسوريا)، رغم التدخل الأميركي - الأوروبي المباشر لكبح هذه القوى، من دون طائل حتى الآن.
