يكتسب هذا الكتاب أهمية خاصة من بين الكتب التي دأبت دار الجليل للنشر والدراسات والأبحاث الفلسطينية، على نشرها وإصدارها، حول واقع الكيان الإسرائيلي الصهيوني، وهذه الأهمية تتبع أولاً، من موضوع هذا الكتاب، وثانياً من موقع المؤلف نفسه.
فموضوع الكتاب يتعرض لسياق ومؤسسات تخطيط السياسة الإستراتيجية وصناعة قرارات الأمن الوطني، وهو موضوع بالغ الحساسية، خاصة في ظروف كظروف الكيان الإسرائيلي.
ومؤلف الكتاب يهودا بن مئير، الذي يجمع بين صفته العلمية الأكاديمية كمتخصص في الفلسفة وعلم النفس، وكمحاضر في جامعة بار إيلان، وبين خبرته السياسية، كعضو نشط في قيادة حزب المفدال الديني، وكعضو كنيست سابق عن الحزب، ونائب سابق لوزير الخارجية قبيل وأثناء الغزو الإسرائيلي للبنان، إذا جاء كتابه، توليفاً، جاذباً بين الطابع الأكاديمي، وخبرة السياسي وإطلاعه، وهو لهذا وذاك، جدير بالقراءة، قراءة نقدية متعمقة.
يهودا بن مئير من مواليد نيويورك عام 1939، هاجر إلى فلسطين عام 1962، وهو ينتمي إلى الحزب الوطني الديني.
شغل منصب رئيس قسم التحقيق في الجيش الإسرائيلي، وعمل محاضراً في جامعة بار إيلان في موضوع الفلسفة، انتخب عضوا في الكنيست التاسعة والعاشرة، وكان عضواً في لجنة الخارجية والأمن التابعة للكنيست، حتى نهاية فترة الكنيست التاسعة، ومن ثم اشغل منصب نائب وزير الخارجية وعضوا بالكنيست العاشرة، إلى أن استقال يوم 83/12/22 احتجاجاً على القرارات الفردية بالوزارة.
