يشكل كل فصل من فصول هذا الكتاب دراسة قائمة برأسها، ذلك أن كل واحد منها، عدا الأخير، وجد طريقه الى النشر، كدراسة مستقلة، في مجلات علمية تخصصية محكمة في الأردن والعراق والبحرين على مدى مساحة زمنية خلت ترجع بدايتها الى سنة 1995. وألقي الأخير منها في مؤتمر دولي بعنوان (حوار الآداب) عقدته كلية الآداب في الجامعة الأردنية في تموز سنة 2010، إلا أن هذه الفصول جميعاً انتظمت، في الوقت نفسه، في وحدة موضوعية تناولت الفكر التاريخي – الفلسفي عند العلامة الشهير عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن خلدون. ودرست بشكل واف التنظيرات التي تضمنتها (مقدمة) ابن خلدون – ينبوع الفكر الخلدوني ومعين مختلف تجلياته – للتاريخ. تارة كرؤى خلدونية لمنهج دراسة حوادث الماضي (التاريخ = Historiography) دراسة موضوعية لها قواعد وأصول منطقية وعقلية تسمو بالتاريخ نحو آفاق العلم، وتنأى به عن دنايا الأغراض وعبث الأخطاء والخرافات، وأخرى كتأملات خالجت العقل الخلدوني لمسيرة الإنسان والمجتمعات البشرية (التاريخ = History)، يخوض فيها التأمل العقلي الفلسفي بغية فهمها وتحديد إيقاعها، وصولاً الى فهم المتأمل لحاضره واستشرافه للمستقبل.
وبناء على ما تقدم، قسم الكتاب إلى خمسة فصول حملت العناوين التالية: علم التاريخ.. تنظير خلدوني لمنهج الدراسة التاريخية.

سيرة ابن خلدون.. نحو إدراك للتاريخ واستخلاص لفلسفته.
