إذا كانت هناك وسائل متعددة لتلاقي الشعوب وتلاحمها فإن الترجمة من لغة لأخرى تأتي على رأس هذه الوسائل، فالترجمة من الأهمية بالمكان الذي لا ترقى إليه وسيلة أخرى، وذلك لأ،ها قادرة على جمع الشعوب وإيصال مدخراتها الثقافية بعضها لبعض دون الإلتزام بالتلاقي الفعلي عن طريق الرؤية والمشاهدة، وإن كان لهذه الأخيرة أهميتها التي لا تنكر، وإنما تؤتى الترجمة ثمارها المفيدة إذا قام بها متخصص ملم بقواعد اللغتين المنقول منها والمنقول إليها، وهناك وسائل يمكن تعلمها والإفادة منها في إخراج ترجمة صحيحة لا تغتال النص، وقد حاول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أن يضع يدنا على تلك الوسائل بطريقة سهلة واضحة يستطيع أن يفيد منها كل من كانت عنده الرغبة في الولوج إلى ميدان الترجمة.
