"كمن يمسك في قبضته حفنة من الماء تتسرب دون أن يدري... تتساقط القطرات وتحس أن بين يديك شيئاً وعندما ينفتح الكف لا تجده. هكذا أحسست في اليومين الماضيين بأن حبي لك كحفنة الماء في الكف... أحسست بالقشعريرة وذاب جسدي وقلبي حزناً وتساءلت بيني وبين نفسي ماذا حدث؟ هل ضربات القدر التي أتلقاها منذ فترة ليست بالقصيرة أصابت حبك لي بالإحباط؟ أم أن فراقك يضنيني ويحرقني فيريد عقلي أن يريحني مما أنا فيه؟ ويزداد الحوار حدة بين عقلي وعقلي: فيقول الأول: ولكنه يحبني ويقول الثاني: ولكنك وحيدة حزينة. ويرد الأول: ولكنك تعرفين ذلك منذ البداية. ويرد الثاني: ولكنك مرهقة مرهقة وهزيلة. ويرد الأول: ولكنني أحبه وأعشقه بل هو نسيمي. ويرد الثاني: ولكنه نسيماً ليس دائماً فأصحبت رأتيك عليلة. ويرد الأول: ولكنه طبيبي وسوف يكون يوماً ما بجانبي، ويرد الثني: وحتى يأتي هذا اليوم أين أنت؟ فبجانب اللوعة والحرمان هناك الخطر وعدم الأمان. ويرد الأول: ولكني على استعداد وتعودت على الحرمان وعدم الأمان والخطر أعيش به في كل زمان ومكان فهو أماني. ويرد الثاني: الأمان من ماذا؟ وما هو الحرمان الذي تتحدثين عنه؟ تعيشين لتلتقين به وعندما تلقيه تشعرين باللوعة من الفراق. تتنسمينه وفجأة عند الفراق تقف رئتك عن التنفس وتحاولين أن تقنعين نفسك بأن رائحته ملتصقة بجلدك."
