الكتابة عن تجربة توفيق أحمد، في أحد أوجهها، نوع من رد الاعتبار لواحدة من التجارب الشعرية المهمة والمتميزة تجارب جيل بأكمله (جيل الثمانينات)، والتي لم تأخذ حقها من الدراسة والنقد، ولم يتم تسليط الضوء عليها إلا بكثير من المواربة والخجل، عن عمد حيناً، وعن تجاهل غير مقصود في أحايين كثيرة، مردّه (الكسل) و(قلة الحيلة) من قبل غالبية النقّاد.. هذا إن لم نقل كلهم.
هذا الكتاب سعي ومحاولة لتقديم صورة، ولو موجزة، عن تجربة مهمة من التجارب الشعرية في سورية، وذلك من خلال مجموعة من الآراء والدراسات والشهادات اليت تناولتها خلال عقد ونيف من السنين الماضية وصولاً إلى لحظتنا الراهنة، وقد استعنا بذلك على ما تفضّل به السادة النقّاد والدارسون الأفاضل من إسهامات كان لها الفضل الكبير في ظهور هذا الكتاب، هذا إضافة إلى ما توفر لدينا من مادة أرشيفية كبيرة حول ما نُشر من دراسات وأبحاث عن تجربة الشاعر توفيق أحمد، الأمر الذي دفعنا مضطرين، ونظراً لسعة المادة وضيق مساحة النشر إلى اختصار الكثير من المواد التي نُشرت في الصحف والدوريات وعالجت تجربة الشاعر وأعماله، وهو ما يدفعنا إلى الاعتذار من كل صاحب جهد، وكل جهد لم يأخذ طريقه إلى النشر، هذا في الوقت الذي نكرر شكرنا لكل من ساهم في إنجاز هذا الكتاب عن طريق تزويدنا بالدراسات والإسهامات القيّمة التي نعتزّ بها، والتي وإن اختلفت في بعض الأحيان بين رأي وآخر، ودراسة وأخرى، لكن ذلك كان لنا مصدر غنى وتنوع، هو بالضبط ما سعينا ونسعى إليه، خاصة أن ما أثار غبطتنا أنّ كلّ الإسهامات - على اختلافها وتنوعها - اتفقت على مسألة جوهرية واحدة هي حضور الشعر بروحه ودمه في تجربة الشاعر توفيق أحمد.
