إن علم الصرف بأبوابه الثلاثة (قضايا الأفعال، وقضايا الأسماء، والقضايا المشتركة بين الأفعال والأسماء) لم يحظ بمتنٍ صغيرٍ على غرار الأجرومية، بل فيه متونٌ صغيرةٌ في باب دون البابين الآخرين، ومن الكتب الشبيهةِ بالمختصرات التي شملتْ أبواب الصَّرِف الثلاثة كتاب (شذا العرفِ في فنِّ الصَّرْفِ) للشيخ أحمد الحملاوي.
ولكنَّ عدم إختصاره بصورةٍ تقاربُ الأجروميَّة في النحو كان حائلاً بين الطلاب وبين ضبط علمِ الصَّرفِ، وذلك بضبط وحفظِ مختصرٍ فيه.
من هنا، عزم المؤلف إلى حصر قواعد النحو في أربع قواعد أساسية رتبها ترتيباً عقلياً منطقياً ليسهل على الطالب ضبطها وحفظها.
