يهتم هذا الكتاب بالإعلان التجاري في صحيفتي الأهرام والأخبار 2007- 2008 من المنظور السيميائي. يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة نظرية حول الإعلان والسيمياء، ويهتم الباب الأول بدراسة السمات اللغوية للإعلان التجاري من خلال دراسة مفصلة للمستويات اللغوية المختلفة؛ الصوتية والصرفية والتركيبية والدلالية كما يعالج التناص.
ويختص الباب الثاني بالعلامات البصرية بوصفها قوام الإعلان التجاري، وينقسم إلى فصول ثلاثة؛ يدرس الأول الصورة والثاني الخط، والثالث اللون، ويفيد الكتاب في هذا الباب من مفاهيم سيميائية هي: الأيقونة والمؤشر والرمز.
ويركز الكتاب على العلاقة بين العلامات اللغوية وغير اللغوية من خلال الباب الثالث الذي يتناول تركيب العلامات اللغوية وغير اللغوية، ويطبق المفاهيم السيميائية المؤشرية والرمزية والأيقونية.
