يتناول هذا الكتاب "رؤية عصرية للترويح وأوقات الفراغ" بالعرض العديد من الموضوعات والقضايا والإشكاليات المرتبطة بمجال الترويح وأوقات الفراغ في المجتمع المعاصر وذلك لتعريف القارئ بأهم جوانبهم أو أبعادهم، وقد تطرق إلى دراسة موضوع وقت الفراغ ومستويات المشاركة في مناشطة وطرق تقدير هذا الوقت، وكذلك دراسة موضوع الترويح والمتغيرات المرتبطة بحجم وقت الفراغ والترويح، وذلك كمتغيرات الجنس ودرجة التعليم ونوع العمل وحجم الأسرة والمستوى الاجتماعي والاقتصادي.
كما خصص جزء من الكتاب لتناول موضوع الآثار الاجتماعية للتكنولوجيا وعلاقتها بوقت الفراغ والترويح. كما وضمن الكتاب موضوعاً عن الأسرة وأوقات الفراغ والترويح وموضوعاً آخر عن النظام التعليمي وأوقات الفراغ والترويح، هذا ولم يغفل دور المجتمع في تصميم البرامج الترويحية وفقاً للأسس العلمية لتوضيح أهمية دراسة كل من المجتمع والأفراد والإمكانات لتحديد أهداف البرنامج ولاختيار أوجه نشاطه أو محتواه من النشاط والخبرات في تحقيق أفضل عائد تربوي للمشاركين في هذه البرامج، وذاك على كل من المستوى الفردي أو على المستوى الجماعي.
وإلى جانب تلك الموضوعات فقد تعرض الكتاب لتوضيح دور وسائل الاتصال الجماهيري في الترويح واستثمار أوقات الفراغ، وكذلك الإشارة إلى نتائج الدراسات العلمية التي تمت في مجال كل من الإذاعة والتليفزيون والكلمة والمقروءة وارتباطها بوقت الفراغ والترويح. كما اهتم الكتاب بموضوع السياحة والترويح والتعريف بأنواع وأنماط السياحة، وكذلك اهتم بموضوع ألعاب الكمبيوتر وتوضيح خصائص وأهمية تلك الألعاب لوقت الفراغ والترويح. وختم الكتاب بدراسة تطرقت لموضوع الترويح من وجهة نظر إسلامية، فقدمت لأهم مناشط الترويح-المباح-في المجتمعات الإسلامية.
