تأتي أهمية هذه الدراسة انطلاقاً في اهتمامها بإلقاء الضوء على الحديث الذي رواه الشيخان البخاري ومسلم وغيرهما عن النعمان بن بشير رضي الله عنهما قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: "الحلال بين والحرام بين، وبينهما مشبهات لا يعلمها كثير من الناس، فمن اتقى المشبهات استبرأ لدينه وعرضه، ومن وقع في الشبهات، كراع يرعى حول الحمى يوشك أن يواقعه، ألا وإن لكل ملك حمى، ألا إن حمى الله في أرضه محارمه، ألا وإن في الجسد مضغة إذا صلحت صلح الجسد كله، وإذا فسدت فسد الجسد كله، ألا وهي القلب".
فتكشف الدراسة عن الروايات التي جاءت حول هذا الحديث، وعن غريب ألفاظ هذه الروايات وتباينها، من ثم اهتم هذا البحث بتبيان أسباب التحليل والتحريم، والرد على سؤال هل الأصل في الأشياء الإباحة أم التحريم، كما اعتنى ببيان حقيقة المشبهات وموقف المسلم منها، وأخيراً رد على الفتوى القائلة بإباحة فوائد البنوك في ضوء الحديث السابق، وذلك بعد أن أدرج نص الفتوى.
