تعتبر مراقبة الجودة منظومة إنتاجية مانعة تحول دون حدوث أية عيوب أو أخطاء قبل وقوعها, وإذا كانت " المطابقات للمواصفات تختص بالحكم علي المنتج النهائي, فإن "مراقبة الجودة" تختص بجميع مراحل المنتج وعناصر الجودة المرتبطة به.
وعلي هذا كانت النظرة الي "مراقبة جودة الانتاج" باعتبارها طريقة علمية تطبيقية يتم من خلال انشطتها تجميع بيانات الفحص والتفتيش وتمثيلها بيانيا في اشكال معينة تسمح لتوفير صور مرئية لموقف الجودة خلال مراحل عمليات الانتاج وإتاحة الفرصة لتصحيح الاخطاء فور حدوثها, ووقاية الانتاج من عوامل الفقد والضياع ومحاولة خفض المبيعات والمرفوضات الي حدها الادني الذي يقترب من المنع الكامل لها علاوة علي خفض تكاليف الفحص والتفتيش قدر الامكان.
لذلك, تعتبر اعمال التفتيش والفحص والاختبار اهم إجراءات المنع في منظومة مراقبة الجودة التي تهدف الي توجيه جهود انشطة الجودة الي المنع ثم العلاج وذلك لتحسين مستويات الجودة وتأكيدها بأقل تكلفة جودة ممكنة, وعلي هذا سيكون موعدنا مع هذا الكتاب مع الاساليب والطرق الاحصائية لمراقبة الجودة, اما الكتاب الثاني والكتاب الثالث من منهج الجودة الشاملة فسيتناول كل منهما مواصفات الجودة, ومواصفات أيزو 14000 للبيئة علي التوالي.
