يبحث هذا الكتاب، في علاقة تنظيم "القاعدة" بإيران التي تبدو للكثيرين، طارئة ووليدة ظروف معينة، بينما هي قديمة وعميقة. فقد خضعت هذه العلاقة، شأن كل علاقة بين الطرفين، لتحولات وتغيرات نظراً لاختلاف طبيعة طرفيها. غير أن ممكناتها وحواملها، من تشابه المنطلقات إلى تشارك العداوات، ظلت قائمة وقابلة للتوظيف والتنسيق المتبادل. وقد استثمرت طهران علاقتهما بتنظيم "القاعدة" ومن الإرهاب، من دون بقية العالم، كما كانت استثناء في الحرب عليه. لكنها كانت وماتزال، مصدر إرهاق للمنطقة والعالم، تصنع مختلف الفزّاعات عبر تدخلاتها، وعبر الحروب التي تخوضها بالوكالة.
