برترام توماس (بالإنجليزية: Bertram Thomas ) (1893-1950)؛ موظف مدني، رحالة وعالم متخصص في الأنثروبومترية إنجليزي. وهو أول مستشرق يعبر صحراء الربع الخالي.
ولد في نواحي برستول و تخرج في كلية الثالوث، كامبريدج. خدم في عدة وظائف حكومية منها في العراق من 1916-1918م و في الأردن من 1922-1924م، شغل بعدها منصب وزير المالية لسلطان مسقط وعمان -السلطان تيمور بن فيصل- من 1925 -1932م. قام بعدة رحلات في الصحراء أهمها عبوره للربع الخالي سنه 1930-1931م ،وكانت نقطة انطلاقة من ظفار بجنوب سلطنة عمان مرورا بصحارى الربع الخالى ووصولا إلى إلى الدوحة -إمارة قطر-، وكتب عنها في كتابه Arabia Felix والذي نشر سنة 1932م. من آثاره أيضا كتاب The Arabs نشرت سنة 1930م.

اجتياز صحراء الرّبع الخالي المُهلكة، مغامرة عُظمى ظلّت تتردّد في أذهان رحّالي الإنكليز كافّة، إلى أن تمكن منها في النهاية المغامر الجسور برترام توماس الذي كان وزيراً لدى سُلطان عُمان، فتوجّه إلى ظُفار عام 1928 ثم اجتاز الرّبع الخالي عام 1930، تلاه هاري سنت جون فيلبي في عام 1932، ثم ولفريد ثِسيجَر فاجتازه مراراً بين 1948- 1946، فكان بحقّ آخر جيل رحّالي أوروبا الأصيلين في جزيرة العرب.
اجتمعت فرقة هذه الرّحلة في صلالة بظُفار، وتألفت من ثمانية وعشرين قبيلياً، كما كان توماس مجهّز تجهيزاً كاملاً بالأدوات العلمية بشكل فاق سابقيه في إستكشاف جزيرة العرب، فحمل بالإضافة لآلات التّصوير بوصلة منشورية ومقياس الضغط الجوي ومقياس الرّطوبة والسّدسيّة ومؤشّر الوجهة ومقياساً زمنياً.
ارتدى الزّي البدوي في هذه الرّحلة، وتجنّب تعاطي التّبغ والكحول لكسب سمعة إستقامة ساعدته إلى أقصى حدّ، تأقلم حينها جسدياً لمغامرته الأخيرة الكبرى لقطع الصّحراء الكبرى من البحر إلى البحر، وقد تجهّز تجهيزاً رائعاً بالمعرفة وبإجادة اللهجات العربية العاميّة وبخبرة طويلة بالأقوام العرب وفهم عاداتهم وتقاليدهم، ولدى إحتساب المسافات المجتازة، فعلى المر أن يسير بين لندن وبرمنغهام ست مرات ليعادل بشكل تقريبي مسافة الصّحراء التي غطّاها توماس في إحدى حملاته الإستكشافية.
