الكتاب الحالي فصلان "الفصل الأول (التحليل العاملي نظرياً) يقدم خلفية نظرية مدعمة بالأمثلة عن التحليل العاملي بشقيه الاستكشافي والتوكيدي، فيعرض الجزء الأول منه بعض المصطلحات المتعلقة بالتحليل العاملي بشكل عام والتي منها: المتغيرات الملاحظة والمتغيرات غير الملاحظة، والفرق بين التحليل العاملي الساتكشافي والتحليل العاملي التوكيدي، والمصفوفة الارتباطية، وأهمية التحليل العاملي، والتشبع وعلاقته بمعامل الارتباط، والتحليل العاملي من الدرجة الثانية، أما الجزء الثاني فيعرض مصطلحات عاملية ارتبطت بالتحليل العاملي الاستكشافي منها: الجذر الكامن والشيوع، وطريقة المكونات الأساسية، وتدوير المحاور، وتسمية العوامل، ومحكات الإبقاء على العوامل، والجزء الثالث يعرض مصطلحات متعلقة بالتحليل العاملي التوكيدي منها: النموذج المفترض، ومؤشرات جودة المطابقة، وطرق تقدير معالم النموذج، وقيود البارامترات، ومؤشرات التعديل، والجزء الرابع يعرض علاقة حجم العينة وعدد المتغيرات الملاحظة بالتحليل العاملي، والفصل الآخر من هذا الكتاب (التحليل العاملي عملياً) يقدم جانباً عملياً عن التحليل العاملي بشقيه الاستكشافي والتوكيدي من خلال ثلاثة أمثلة الأول منهم على تحليل عاملي استكشافي متعامد، والثاني على تحليل عاملي استكشافي مائل، وهما المثالان اللذان يتم معالجتهما باستخدام برامج SPSS، والمثال الثالث على تحليل عاملي توكيدي وهو المثال الذي يتم معالجته باستخدام برنامجين شهيرين في مجال النمذجة البنائية بشكل عام والتحليل العاملي التوكيدي بشكل خاص وهما برنامجي AMOS, LISREL.
