يقدم خلفية نظرية مدعمه بالأمثلة عن التحليل العاملى بشقيه الاستكشافى والتوكيدى ، فيعرض الجزء الأول منه بعض المصطلحات المتعلقة بالتحليل العاملى بشكل عام والتى منها : المتغيرات الملاحظة والمتغيرات غير الملاحظة ، والفرق بين التحليل العاملى الاستكشافى والتحليل العاملى التوكيدى ، والمصفوفة الارتباطية ، وأهمية التحليل العاملى والتشبع وعلاقته بمعامل الارتباط ، والتحليل العاملى من الدرجة الثانية ، اما الجزء الثانى فيعرض خمصطلحات عاملية ارتبطت بالتحليل العاملى الاستكشافى منها : لجذر الكامن والشيوع ، وطريقة المكونات الاساسية ، وتدوير المحاور ، وتسمية العوامل ، ومحكات الابقاء على العوامل ، والجزء الثالث يعرض مصطلحات متعلقة بالتحليل العاملى التوكيدى منها : النموذج المفترض ، ومؤشرات جودة المطابقة ، وطرق تقدير معالم النموذج ، وقيود البارامترات ، ومؤشرات التعديل ، والجزء الرابع يعرض علاقة حجم العينة وعدد المتغيرات الملاحظة بالتحليل العاملى والفصل الاخر من هذا الكتاب ( التحليل العاملى عمليا ) يقدم جانبا عمليا عن التحليل العاملى بشقية الاستكشافى والتوكيدى من خلال ثلاثة أمثلة الاول منهم على تحليل عاملى استكشافى متعامد ، والثانى على تحليل عاملى استكشافى مائل ، وهما المثالان اللذان يتم معالجتهما باستخدام برامج Spss ، والمثال الثالث على تحليل عاملى توكيدى وهو المثال الذى يتم معالجته باستخدام برنامجين شهيرين فى مجال النمذجة البنائية بشكل عام والتحليل العاملى التوكيدى بشكل خاص وهما برنامجى Lisrel & Amos .
