الكتاب مجموعة دراسات بعنوان: تأملات حول أنف سيرانو دي برجراك- فيلم آلام المسيح- هزيمة يونيو- طه حسين مؤسس تاريخ الأدب العربي- لصوص الأدب- فؤاد زكريا وحب الموسيقى وغيرها- والتي تحمل العنوان عن امرئ القيس والاغتراب في أشعاره حيث رفض أبيه الملك أن يكون ابنه شاعرًا وعندما يأس من إصلاحه عهد إلى أحد الرجال لقتله- عاش غربتين الأولى تصدع علاقته بأبيه وأخد يبحث عن علاقات حميمة خارج أسرته ومجتمعه لإيجاد بديلًا عن اغترابه- لاحقه الماضي وأفسد حياته الجديدة فهو الوحيد بين أخوته الذي لم يكن مؤهلًا لمهمة الثأر لأبيه يقول "ضيعني صغيرًا وحملني دمه كبيرَا " والغربة تتجسد في معلقته بناؤها يحمل اندفاع جارف نحو الحياة وعجز عن الاطمئنان إليها وقصائد الغزل بديلًا عن سعادته- يصف قلبه بصحراء مجدبة يعمرها الخوف والوحدة ولم يجد بديلًا غير المرأة لقتل الوحدة والخوف.
