تتناول الكاتبة تجربتها في الدراسة والعيش خارج فلسطين: في مصر، وبريطانيا، وأمريكا، ولا تنفصل الكاتبة، في أيّ من تجاربها، عن واقعها الفلسطينيّ، فنراها، في جميع هذه البلدان، تبحث عن أبناء وطنها عرباً وفلسطينيّين "لأتشكل بهم وأشكّل معهم نشاطاتنا من أجل فلسطين".
فأثناء دراسها الجامعيّة الأولى في القاهرة، تنضمّ إلى أطر نقابيّة في البلد، لتسهم في نشاطاتها (رابطة / إتحاد الطلاب الفلسطينيّين) و(رابطة/ إتحاد المرأة الفلسطينيّة).
كما نراها تنهل ممّا تمنحه القاهرة من ثقافة، سواء في المسرح أو الباليه أو الأوبرا أو السينما، وتحصل على شهادتها، ثمّ تعود بما اكتسبت من ثقافة لتفيد مدينتها نابلس، ولا تجد طلاباً فلسطينيين في بانجور - شمال ويلز، فتقرّر التشكّل مع آخرين لمجابهة الصعوبات التي وجدتها في تلك المدينة، وفي دراستها، وتنجح في أن تكون واحدة من الستّة المتاهّلين للماجستير من بين ثلاثين طالباً مبعوثين من شتّى أنحاء العالم.
وأثناء التحضير للدكتوراه في أمريكا، نراها أيضاً تجابه الصعوبات بسبب مجال الدراسة ومنهجيّاته الجديدة عليك، ناهيك عن صعوبة العيش في المدينة، فتبحث عن الطلاّب العرب والفلسطينيّين لتشكّل معهم (رابطة الطلاب الفلسطيّنيّين) من أجل التعريف بالقضيّة الفلسطينيّة، ونظراً للدعم الكبير، الّذي وجدته من أهل المدينة، تشكّل (رابطة أصدقاء الشعب الفلسطينيّ؛ كما نراها تجوب أطراف أمريكا بصحبة هؤلاء، وتنهل من ثقافاتها.
وإذ يصادف وجودها في منحة فولبرايت في نيويورك، مع بدء شنّ الحرب على العراق، نرى الناشطين من أهل البلد يتوافدون على بيتها للمعرفة، ولاحقاً لتعريفها بنشاطات الولاية ودعوتها للمحاضرة فيها.
وتشير إلى عداوة الصهاينة لنشاطاتها، كما تحرص على إخبارنا عن أصدقائها من اليهود اللاصهاينة، وقصّة أحدهم في القدوم إلى فلسطين "التشكيل واحدة من الإشتراكيّة"، ثمّ الهروب منها في أربعينات القرن العشرين، لما شاهده من عنصريّة الحركة الصهيونيّة، وطلبها منه الإشراف على (منظمة الطلاّب العرب) في الجامعة.
