Cette collision se situe au milieu de la relation avec Marie Luce: la beauté, le sexe, le charme de la France (Marie Luce vient d'une des plus belles régions de France: l'Ardèche), les géants de la pensée universitaire (Georges Vedel, Michel Miaille, Philippe Dujardin, Pascal Richard, Jean Rivero), l'honnêteté française (les Français sont très consciencieux contrairement aux Libanais), les grands penseurs militants (Daniel Guérin, Christian Eyschen, Jean-Luc Dupriez, etc..). Tout cela s'incarne dans cette relation. Mais en même temps cela contraste avec la réalité : réalité amère, solitude de l’étranger en France, douleur de l’éloignement, choc des coutumes ancrées, l'ennui...
