تأتى هذه الدراسة محاولة الكشف عن مدارس قطاع معين من قطاعات العلوم العربية الإسلامية فى عصر إذهارها وهو القطاع الفلسفى. ومما لاشك فيه أن أبرز وأشهر الفلاسفة الذين ظهروا فى تلك الفترة, فيلسوف العرب والمعلم الثانى, وأعنى الكندى والفارابى.
ويأتى البحث (فى) الكندى والفارابى كمدارس فلسفية من خلال محاولة الإجابة على التساؤلات التالية:
هل إستطاع الكندى أن يكون مدرسة علمية لها أصولها ومميزاتها التى تتميز بها؟ وإن وجدت مثل هذه المدرسة, فما هى الأسس التى قامت عليها وإنطلقت منها؟
ما الطريقة العلمية الداخلية التى إتبعها أعضاء هذه المدرسة بغرض إنتاج العلم؟
ما المنجزات العلمية التى قدمتها هذه المدرسة وما مدى تاثيرها فى اللاحقين؟
هل إستطاع الفارابى أن يكون مدرسة علمية, يمكن أن تسمى "المدرسة الفارابية الفلسفية"؟
إن وجدت هذه المدرسة, فهل تعد إمتداد لمدرسة الكندى, أم أن لها سمات معينة إختصت بها؟
ما حجم إسهامات هذه المدرسة, وما مدى أثرها فى الدراسات والمدارس الفلسفية اللاحقة؟
تلك هى أهم تساؤلات هذا البحث, والتى أحاول الإجابة عليها فى سياقه وأبرزها فى نهايته.
