قليل هم الرجال الذين يأبون الرحيل عن الدنيا دون أن يتركوا بصمتهم على صفحة الحياة، وقليلون هم الذين يوقعون في دفاتر التاريخ قبل المغادرة، قد يفعلون ذلك بعدل وإصلاح، وقد يصنعونه بتجبر وديكتاتورية، لكن في النهاية تبقى أسماؤهم مقروءة على مر السنين. دوايت أيزنهاور رجل من هؤلاء الذين تركوا بصمتهم في التاريخ، فهو شخصية غير تقليدية، فهو وإن كان قد قام بدور الراعي الرسمي والمشرف العام على إقامة دولة لإسرائيل حتى قواها وأقام شوكتها، لكن الذي لا يختلف عليه أحد أنه رجل سياسي مخضرم، أحب وطنه وقدم له خدمات كبيرة، وإن كان كثير منها على حساب آخرين، لكن في النهاية موضوعية البحث تحتم علينا أن نحكم على الرموز بأحكام البحث التاريخي. فهذا الكتاب يتناول ملف الرئيس الأمريكي الأسبق أيزنهاور وجوانب شخصيته، وما أحاطه من غموض وانتقادات، وأيضًا يفند تبنيه الكامل للفكرة الصهيونية وإعانته لإسرائيل، ويبسط لإمكاناته الكثيرة التي أهلته كي يقود أعنف الهجمات التي أسقطت النازيين، ثم صعود نجمه مع توالي النجاحات، ثم ترشيح الحزب الجمهوري له في انتخابات الرئاسة عام1953؛ حيث استطاع أن يهزم مرشح الحزب الديمقراطي حينها "ألداي ستيفنسون"؛ ليصبح أيزنهاور الرئيس رقم34 للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وليُسهم في تغيير مجريات السياسة الدولية بأكثر من خطوة جريئة، فقد خاض سباق التسلح النووي ضد روسيا ونازعها مناطق النفوذ في العالم، وأدخل الولايات المتحدة عالم الفضاء، ودشن لأخطر وأشرس أجهزة المخابرات على مستوى العالم (CIA)، وثبَّت قدم إسرائيل على طريقها المظلم، وقام بضم ولاية ألاسكا إلى الولايات المتحدة، وقبض على رئيس وزراء إيران مصدق وحاكمه، وغير ذلك من مواقف وأحداث موقَّع بجوارها باسم " أيزنهاور".
