إن للعقيدة أهمية كبيرة في حياتنا، فبها نواجه مشاكل الدنيا وهمومها، وبها ننتصر على عدونا، وبها نسعد صابرين محتسبين راضين بقضاء ربنا, ومن هنا جاء البحث في مجال أصول الدين- الذي هو من أرفع العلوم- متحدثاً عن مباحث علم العقيدة تحت مسمى "الكامل في اختصار الشامل" لابن الأمير، الذي اختصر فيه كتاباً يعد موسوعةفي أصول الدين ألا وهو "الشامل في أصول الدين" للعلامة وإمام أهل زمانه إمام الحرمين الجويني. ولقد تناول الإمام الجويني الكثير من القضايا المهمة فى علم العقيدة وناقش في كتابه لآراء الأشاعرة، ولم يمنعه انتماؤه أو انتصاره لمذهب الأشاعرة من نقضهم، كما تحدث عن مصطلحات فلسفية وأدخلها في علم الكلام، وأبطل عقيدة التثليث عند النصارى بالأدلة من داخل الإنجيل نفسه، ورد على البراهمة في إنكارهم النبوة، كما تحدث عن المعتزلة وحديثهم عن القدر، ورد شبههم بخصوص إيجاد الإنسان لفعله، والزعم بأن الله لا يخلق الشر، ورد على المجبرة الذين قالوا بأن الإنسان مجبر على إتيان أفعاله ولا اختيار له في ذلك. والكتاب خير دليل على أن قضايا الإلاهيات لابد أن تستند على أدلة عقلية، وقضايا النبوات تعتمد على الأدلة النقلية إضافة إلى الأدلة العقلية، أما قضايا السمعيات فيعتمد فيها على النقل فقط؛ كالموت والبعث والنشور وعذاب القبر.
