ما أدونه هنا يشكل الجزء الأهم من حياتي وعشقي ووجداني الملتصق بهذه الثورة وهذا الوطن... وأولئك الرجال الذين نزفت دماؤهم وأغرقت كل شبر من أرض فلسطين التي ما زالت عطشى... وما زلت أفيق وأصحو كل يوم أستعيد في عقلي وذاكرتي الوجوه والأيام واللحظات التي مرت ولا تزال منذ لحظات شبابي الأولى والتي انتهت بقفزات الرجولة والمسؤولية المتلازمة بين الحياة والشهادة عبر السنوات الأكثر من الأربعين... والأكثر من العطاء، والأكثر من البحث عن الذات والهوية والبحث عن مكان تحت هذه الشمس الغائبة إلا من بقايا بصيص من الأمل الناجم عن الإيمان بالله تعالى، وهؤلاء الأشبال الذين يقبضون على حجارة الجمر، مكملين الطريق الذي سكناه بروح أقوى بالمعرفة والشفافية والصدق.
ما أسجل هنا إلا ما صنعه هذا الشعب في الداخل والخارج، وما قدمه أبناء هذا الشعب من تضحيات تفوق كل وصف، وما أذكره هنا في هذا التدوين يلتزم بالأشخاص الذين التصقت بهم شخصياً وعانيت معهم وتقاسمت الحلم والألم والأمل في قوات الــ17 مع معرفتي بالآلاف من الشهداء الذين سقطوا على أرض الوطن، فلكل واحد منهم حكاية وقصة وروعة إستشهاد، إن لم أقل أن زغرودة كل أم شهيد هي فصل من فصول أي كتاب وأوسع وأقوى... ولهذا أتمنى أن نسجل تلك الأسماء الخالدة في تاريخ شعبنا، ونحفر تلك الأسماء، على صخور مدننا وقرانا لتبقى نبراساً وشعلة تضيء لنا ظلمة هذا الطريق إلى نور المستقبل الذي نؤمن به أنه قادم.
لقد كان الهدف الأسمى من إعداد هذا الكتاب هو إثراء الذاكرة الفلسطينية بوقائع مسيرة الكفاح الوطني الفلسطيني طيلة أربعين عاماً لتكون في متناول أجيالنا المقبلة وفق فهم موضوعي لحقائق هذه المسيرة النضالية.
