إنّ هذا الكتاب ليبحث في موضوع شائك ومعقّد ألا وهو الشّعر الصُوفي ذو الأبعاد المتشابكة؛ إذ إنّه ليس مجرد فنٍّ قوليّ يصوّر عواطف شاعرٍ مادحٍ أو مصوِّرٍ ماهرٍ، ولكنّه يستند على فلسفةٍ ثريّةٍ، وتجربة ذوقيّة، يقف فيها العقل عند حدٍّ معيّن عاجزاً عن مواصلة الرِّحلة التي يقطعها الشاعر العارف إلى منابع النور، فيفسح المجال لروحه المغتربة الباحثة عن أصولها النقيّة، ولقلبه المستضاء بأنوار الإشراق والمعرفة الذوقيّة التي ليس لها حدود، أن يوجّهوا إبداع هؤلاء الشعراء لأنْ يصبغوا أساليبهم بصبغة وجدانية، وأن يطوّعوها للتعبير عن تجربتهم، حتى جعلوا المتلقي الواعي الذي أطّلع على دقائق تجربتهم، وتشربت روحه عطر أرواحهم أن يدرك أن الموضوعات التي برزت في شعر الصوفيّة كالإغتراب والحبّ الإلهي والخيال برموزه وأدواته إنّما جاءت عن حاجة الشاعر الصّوفي للتّعبير عن مشاعره الهادرة، ووجداناته المتدافعة، وحالاته المتعاقبة، مما كان له أكبر الأثر في طبيعة الخصائص الفنّية لدواوينهم.
