تناول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب، النظام الإسلامي للإرث وقواعده وأصوله وسائر أحكامه، مدعماً كل ذلك بالأدلة وأسانيد، وموضحاً فيه ما سار عليه قانون المواريث رقم 77 سنة 1943، بشأن كل مسألة من مسائله مع بيان المأخذ الفقهي لكل مادة من مواده.
هذا وقد رتبه على مقدمة وسبعة أبواب وخاتمة؛ تناول في المقدمة التعريف بالميراث وأركانه وموضوعه والغاية منه والمبادئ الأساسية التي أقام عليها الإسلام نظام الميراث في مصر. أما الباب الأول فخصصه للحديث عن التركة والحقوق المتعلقة بها. وفي الباب الثاني تناول مسألة أسباب الميراث وشروطه ومواقعه، وضمن الثالث بحث في أصحاب الفروض.أما في الرابع فتحدث عن الإرث بالتعصيب،وفي الخامس تحدث عن الحجب وأصول المسائل وتصحيحها وعن القول والرد،وفي السادس تناول مسائل ميراث ذوي الأرحام والرد على أحد الزوجين، وعن العصوبة السببية، أما الباب السابع والأخير فضمنه مسائل في الإرث بالتقدير والاحتياط وفي استحقاق التركة بغير الإرث.
