عن أنس رضى الله عنه أنه صلى وسلم عليه قال: " لايؤمن أحدكم حتى أكون أحب إليه من والده وولده والناس اجمعين" ولا أحق بالمحبة منه صلى الله عليه وسلم، فهو الذى أخرج الله به الناس من ظلمات الكفر إلى نور الإيمان، ولو قدر للمسلم دخول الجنة - وهذا رجاؤنا - لكان بسببه صلى الله عليه وسلم فكل محبة دون محبة النبى صلى الله وسلم، وحبته أعلى محبة بعد حب الله تعالى. ولكى تحب إنساناً لا بد من سماع كلامه، وهو دور المحدث فى نقل حديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قولاً، وفعلاً ، وتقريراً ثم أن تعلم سيرته وهديه، وهذا هو الطريق الثانى الذى ارتاده المحدث لينقل غلينا حياة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فى صور حية بوصف من أصحابه الكرام رضوان الله عليهم، والذين عاصروره، ورأوه، وآمنوا به، وعزروه، ونصروه، ووقروه.
