إن الدراسات النقدية والأدبية في العصر الحديث، باتت واسعة الميدان، وتعدّت آفاقها حدود الأزمنة والأمكنة، وما عادت الفنون الأدبيّة حكراً على زمانها الذي تُنشأ فيه؛ وبذلك، كانت آداب القدماء موطن إهتمام المناهج النّقديّة الحديثة، التي وجّهت إهتمامها لتلك الآداب ولكنت بمظهرٍ نقديّ كسا الملامح النّقديّة حلّة جديدة من الإصطلاحات وزوايا النّظر في تلك الآداب.
من هنا، أتت الدراسة هذه الموسومة بــ (شعريّة الهجاء في نقائض جرير والفرزدق) لتبحثّ بين إيقاعات القصيدة العربيّة عن ملامح الشّعريّة التي تمنح الشّعر طابعه الموسيقيّ، وتأثيره النفسيّ في المتلقّي، وترفع من وتيرة الإيقاعات الموسيقيّة بين دفّات أبيات "القصيدة الهجائية"، ذات الغرض الشعريّ، الذي يمتلئ بالنّقد والذّمّ والإنتقاص من الآخر، وحكاية التاريخ، وسرد الأحداث ووصفها، وعدّ الأيام ونتائجها، وإعلان المبادئ والمواقف السّياسيّة وآثارها، متّخذةً من نقائض شاعرين من أشهر شعراء عصرهم، وهما جرير والفرزدق نموذجاً تطبيقيّاً، ومستفيدةً من أحدث المناهج النقدية الحديثة في دراسة الأدب القديم.
