من الطبيعي أن يخطو النقد الروائي خطوة جديدة بعد ربط الرواية بالمجتمع، لذلك بدأ الإتجاه نحو دراسة شكل الرواية والأدوات المتاحة لها، بحيث يمكن الحكم وتصنيف الأعمال فيما يندرج تحت تصنيف الرواية وما يبتعد عنها إن الراوي في الرواية يلأخذ قطاعاً أكبر من الحياة، ويبني الرواية على هندسة متناهية الدقة تبعاً لموقعه ووجهة نظره، وإذا كانت الدراسات النقدية الروائية اعتمدت على دراسة الشخصيات، والأزمنة والأمكنة أو تحليل الخطاب اللغوي، فإنها أغفلت دور الراوي والتركيز عليه، ولذا تطمح هذه الدراسة في شد تلك الفجوة التي اغفلتها تلك الدراسات وهذا هو ما تنفرد بالإهتمام به هذه الدراسة عن الراوي وتقنيات القص الفني.
