في عيد ميلاد لونا، سقط الصَّاروخ على البناية، طارت أجسادُ الحضور مثل غيمة حمراء، صارت لونا نورسا يطير في الحلم، يقترب من رأس حيدر أنَّى توجَّه، صوتا عذبا يغنِّي له، لتهدأ غَيْرتُهُ، ليسندَ رأسَه على كَتِفِ الوهم، صارت دمشق كلُّها أسرابا من النَّوارس، يهرب منها حيدر العايش، يلاحقها، يخلع قميصه الأبيض، ليشيرَ لها بِهِ كما يفعلُ جيشٌ مستسلمٌ مهزومٌ، يسمع نداءها في إشارات المرور وأشجار السَّرو وأصوات باعة الصَّبار على طريق الهامَة وقُدسيا. الآن يتحدَّث الأصحاب عن الحرب التي تحفر مساربها في حياة حيدر العايش، لم يَعُدْ يحبُّ التَّنقُّل بين الغرف والشّقق، ما زال يعمل كاتبا للسيناريو، وقد استأجر غرفةً صغيرةً، يدفع الإيجار بانتظامٍ، وربَّما أعاد القمصان والأحذية التي سرقها، أو استعارها كما يقول هو، لكنَّه يحملُ قائمةً طويلةً بعناوين العاهرات، يتردد إليهنَّ، وأجاب عند سؤاله عن ولَعِهِ المُستجد، قائلا: لم يعد مُجْدِيًا أن تُحِبَّ، أن تعشقَ، فقد تخسرُهً فجأةً في الحربِ، فتكون انتكاستُكَ فظيعةً، لذا اكتشفت ما تقدِّمه العاهرات لك، تمنحك الجسد ولا تطالبك بقلب، ودون أن تكون ملزما بالحبّ، في الحقيقة، لا الحبّ ولا الكره، في الحربِ أنتَ كائنٌ متعادلٌ كيمائيا، لا تحبُّ ولا تكرهُ، تتنفسُ فقط، ومؤقتا!"
