تعتبر مسألة الشفاعة من المسائل التي احتلّت مكانةً مهمّةً في الفكر الإسلامي، فهي بقدر ما تعدّ عاملاً قوياً على توثيق الصلة بين المسلم ورثه من جهة وبينه وبين الرموز الإسلامية المقدّسة من جهة أُخرى، تشكّل وسيلةً روحية لإرتقاء الإنسان المسلم وتكريس الرفعة في سلوكه، وهدف بهذا المستوى لا يرفضه العقل، ولا تنكره الفطرة، ولا يخالف متعلق الإيمان الذي جاء به نبينا الأكرم صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.
وبرغم نزول الآيات العديدة فيها، والعشرات من الروايات حولها ظلّت تعاني على مدى عصور إشكالاتٍ وتساؤلات وشبهات أثارها البعض من جهة تحديد مفهومها وبيان حقيقتها وتحقّقها خارجاً.
وهذا الكتاب يحاول إثبات صحّة طلب الشفاعة بالأنبياء والأولياء إلى الله سبحانه، بل إستحبابها في حياتهم وبعد مماتهم، بالأدلة الشرعية المعتبرة عند السنّة والشيعة، ودفع ما قيل من تصوّرات خاطئة في هذه المسألة.
