إن هذا الكتاب جزء من الثمانية أجزاء لكتاب المجالس المؤيدية... حيث أن كل جزء مؤلف من مائة مجلس، ويسمى كل جزء بالمائة التي يتضمنها، فالجزء الأول يسمى بالمائة الأولى، والجزء الثاني يسمى بالمائة الثانية، وهكذا إلى المائة الثامنة.
وكتابنا هذا (المجالس المؤيدية – المائة الثانية) هو الجزء الثاني... وإن الموضوعات الأساسية التي يدور عليها كتاب المجالس المؤيدية متناثرة في جميع الأجزاء، وكل جزء منه على حدة يعطي صورة عن الكتاب بأكمله، وإن كان في حقيقة الأمر لا يغنى عن بقية الأجزاء ففي مجملها تشكل موضوعاً متكاملاً..
وإن اختيار المؤيد لتجزئة الكتاب إلى ثمانية هي من الأمور الهامة بإعتقادي، لأن الأعداد عند الفاطميين والإسماعيلية عامة لها دلالات باطنية كبيرة يجب تبيانها بصورة جلية...
فالعدد ثمانية عند الفاطميين هو (أصل) بمقابلة أبواب الجنة وحملة العرش، أو بمقابلة الحدود الروحانية والحدود الأرضية، فهذا العدد (ثمانية) اختاره المؤيد لأجزاء كتابه ولمجالسه ممثولاً من هذه الممثولات..
وجاءت تسمية المجالس من مجلس، والمجلس هو مكان جلوس الداعي الفاطمي إلى أتباع الدعوة في يوم من أيام الأسبوع والمناسبات والأعياد.
