عندما يمرض الإنسان، يصبح مرهف الإحساس إلى درجة عالية وترتفع حاجته إلى التقرب والحنين إلى الأهل والأصدقاء وطاقم التمريض، وهذا ما يجب إعطاؤه له ليخفف من آلامه وأوجاعه، وهكذا هو حال الوطن الأم الجريح؛ فالكفاح من أجل حرية الرأي وحق تقرير المصير هما عاملان من عوامل الشفاء.
فالشفاء من مرارة الحياة وظلمها هو ما جعلني أفكر دائماً: لماذا نحن على وجه هذه الأرض؟ ما هي رسالتي فيها؟ من أنا؟ وماذا أستطيع أن أعمل لآخرتي في دنيا ملؤها الكذب والإغتصاب والبلطجة؟.
ما يدور حولي غير صحيح وغير عادل، فالكسب والتكسب المادي بكل الوسائل والطرائق هو الأهم، وقانون الغاب ما زال قائماً.
الحال يُنكر كل الأعراف الإنسانية الديمقراطية، فأين هي قيم الحق والعدالة الإجتماعية والمساواة في فرص التعليم والصحة للجميع، التي هي حق أساسي من حقوق الإنسان!؟...
الفرق الطبقي آخذ في الإزدياد فإلى أين نحن ذاهبون؟ فكان الجواب دائماً: أنا طبيب بالدرجة الأولى وهذه هي رسالتي في الحياة.
وبما أنّ وطني جريح، فمن الطبيعي أن أكون في وسطه وخصوصاً ان صورة الذاكرة، ذاكرة الهجر والتهجير التي تتضح معالمها أكثر فأكثر تزداد كلما تقدّم الإنسان في العمر.
وصور الإذلال المستمر في ظل الإحتلال، كلها جراح لا تزال تنزف، ومن هذه التفاعلات الثلاثة: أي كطبيب عربي فلسطيني مهجر وتأثيرها في حياتي حاولت أن أضعها في كتابي لتبقى عُهدة في ذاكرة الأجيال القادمة، لعلها تساعدهم على نيل الحرية والحياة السعيدة في هذا الوطن.
