إن الفكرة الأساسية لموضوعي هي (الجمال)، والجمال - كما هو معروف عنه - من الناحية الفكرية قد نشأ ولا يزال يترعرع في أحضان الفلسفة، ولا بد لي في هذه الحالة من الإعتماد على المصادر الفلسفية والنقدية التي تتناول الجمال بصورة مباشرة، سواء من الناحية المنهجية أو الثقافية، لتكون دراستي للجمال في الشعر الجاهلي وبقدر المستطاع قائمة على أساس علمي وتقويم موضوعي للجمال وإدراكه، سواء بالنسبة لإحساس الشعراء به وتعبيرهم عنه، أو من خلال دراستي لذلك الإحساس وتقويمي له ومعرفة ما هو موضوعي وذاتي في تقدير الجمال، والشيء الذي حرصت على التمسك به وقدر إستطاعتي أيضاً هو التوفيق بين المفاهيم الجمالية المعاصرة وطبيعة النص الأدبي، فلم أكن لأقحم تفسيراً نفسياً أو فلسفياً خارجاً عن طبيعة النص الأدبي وظروفه المختلفة ولم يكن النص من جهته وظروفه المختلفة تفرض علي تفسيرات من دون أن أستطيع تقويمه من الناحية الموضوعية، بل حاولت إستيعاب النص الأدبي من خلال المفاهيم الجمالية بما يتلاءم مع طبيعة الحياة البدوية والعوامل النفسية والطبيعية والحياة الإجتماعية والمعتقدات الدينية التي تؤثر بصورة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة على نفسيات الشعراء وإحساسهم الفكري.
