هذه الرواية تتناول وجود الأرفاقة فى الحجاز علي مر التاريخ, من خلال قصة ارتحال عائلة إلى الحجاز. وتحكي مكابداتهم, وأشواقهم للمقدس, وذوبانهم نافرين فى النسيج الإجتماعي للجزيرة العربية, وتتداخل الأحداث مع التاريخ والأسطورة, وقصص الثورات للأقليات والمضطهدين عبر التاريخ. العمل يحفر في الموروث الشعبي وفلكولور منطقة الحجاز خاصة في شقه الغنائي, وينهض في منطقة لم تقاربها الرواية العربية من قبل, مازجا ما بين التوثيق التاريخي والسرد التخيلي.
(ميمونة), اسمى غير ان اهلى يحلو لهم تلقيب الأشخاص بألقاب عديدة, بعضها شديد الغرابة حتي يكاد ينطوي الاسم الحقيقي فلا يذكر إلا في المدارس وأوراق الحكومة. وطائفة منهم يكثر بينهم اسم (محمد), فيمتلىء بيت واحد بأكثر من محمد. محمد أول ومحمد ثاني وثالث ورابع وقد يصل للعاشر.. حتي يعم البيوت فيض محمد. وعندما سألتني قدس: لماذا هذا الأسم؟ لم أجبها. أدركت عجزي, ونهضت وهي تتمتم: (قناع, رمز, قناع, رمز)؛ ثم غادرتني.
أهلى يحبون تسمية أبنائهم بأسماء تغمرهم بأطياف من سمعوا عن قدسيتهم يرونهم مندسين بين طيات التاريخ. ولكن تعرجات فى ألسنتهم تجبرهم علي نطق عمر (أومارو), وأحمد (آمادو), ومحمد (مامادو), وإسماعيل (صومائيلا), وعائشة (أيستا), وآمنة (آمتنا), وفاطمة (فاتوما), وخليل (كيلو). تشيع في دني اهلي وجماعتي أسماء عديدة نطت من الوادي المبارك فداخلت أدمتهم. وحينا لا ينادون من تسمي باسم سابق تسمي به أب أو جد حياء وإجلالا, فتسمع من أفواهنا حين مازجها زمزم القديم منذ سني المجاورة الموغلة في الزمان, نداءات تطلق على الأولاد مثل "أبو, أبونا, أبانا, أبا, شبية, جدي, اميتا!!". فيتغرب الأولاد فى أسمائهم. حياء, يجعلهم يتحرجون في مناداة الأطفال بأسماء سبق أن أطلقت علي الكبار. اسمي لم يمنحني الغربة, فالغريب يتآخي مع غربته بالارتحال داخله والأنصات لذاته, ولكنه الزمان الذي لم يحفل بسحنتي.
