صدر عن مركز دراسات الوحدة العربية كتاب "العلاقات السودانية – الصينية 1956-2011" للدكتور جعفر كرار أحمد.
الكتاب هو أول عمل متكامل للعلاقات السودانية- الصينية. وهو يحاول الإجابة عن عدد من الأسئلة حول طبيعة العلاقات بين البلدين، وحول مدى التزام الصين بشعاراتها المرفوعة حول التعاون مع الدول النامية، وطبيعة اهتمام الصين المبكر بأفريقيا، وحول أسباب فشل السودان في الإفادة من هذه العلاقات لتحقيق التنمية الشاملة.
يعتمد الكاتب على معلومات أولية حيث عمل دبلوماسياً بوزارة الخارجية السودانية، وهو ما سمح له بمتابعة العلاقات السودانية - الصينية والاطلاع على كثير من ملفاتها من قرب. يتضمن الكتاب ثمانية فصول إلى جانب الخلاصة التنفيذية والمقدمة والتوصيات. الفصل الاول بعنوان: "العلاقات السودانية – الصينية منذ العصر المروي وحتى أوائل القرن العشرين"، والفصل الثاني: "العلاقات السودانية- الصينية (1955-1969)"، والفصل الثالث: " العلاقات السودانية- الصينية (1969-1985)"، والفصل الرابع: " العلاقات السودانية- الصينية (1985-1989)"، والفصل الخامس: "العلاقات السياسية بين جمهورية السودان وجمهورية الصين الشعبية (1989-2011)" والفصل السادس: "التعاون السوداني – الصيني في قطاع النفط (1989-2011)"، والفصل السابع: " العلاقات السودانية- الصينية الاقتصادية والتجارية والمالية غير النفطية (1989-2011)"، والفصل الثامن: "التعاون الثقافي والتربوي والعلمي والصحي بين السودان والصين (1989-2011)".
