يؤرخ للعلاقات المصرية الصينية في فترة مليئة بالأحداث الجسام، حيث قامت ثورة 23 يوليو 1952 في مصر، والثورة الشيوعية في الصين سنة 1949، وتبوأت الدولتان مكانة عالية في إقليميهما، بفضل ما تمتلكانه من مقومات تاريخية وحضارية وإقتصادية واستراتيجية، وكان من الطبيعي أن تتلاقى الأهداف وتتفق المصالح، فشهدت العلاقات المصرية الصينية تنسيقًا كاملًا في المواقف، وتحسنت بشكل كبير هذه العلاقات على الجانب السياسي والاقتصادي والثقافي.
وقد نجحت الباحثة الدكتورة زينب عيسى في تحليل الجوانب المختلفة للعلاقات المصرية الصينية، فقدمت تمهيدًا عرضت فيه للبعد التاريخي لتلك العلاقات، وأوجه الشبه التي تجمع البلدين والتي كان لها دور مهم في التقارب بينهما، ثم استعرضت موقف مصر من بعض القضايا الصينية المحورية، أهمها قضية تمثيل الصين في الأمم المتحدة، وقضية تايوان، وقضايا النزاع الحدودي الصيني - الهندي، والصيني - السوفييتي، كما عرضت لموقف الصين من بعض القضايا المصرية المهمة، ومنها قضية تأميم قناة السويس والعدوان الثلاثي سنة 1956، وقضية الصراع العربي - الإسرائيلي، وكذلك قضية موقف الرئيس جمال عبد الناصر من السياسة الشيوعية في العالم العربي، والتي مثلت نقطة الخلاف الرئيسية في العلاقات بين البلدين.
