يقدم كتاب "نساء على تقاطع طرق" تحليلاً للحركات النسوية/ النسائية في الضفة الغربية وقطاع غزة بعد التوقيع على اتفاقيات أوسلو وإقامة السلطة الفلسطينية العام 1994. ويعتمد الكتاب على العديد من المقابلات المعمقة، وتحليل بعض نماذج التنظيمات النسائية المرتبطة بتجربتي الحركة الوطنية الفلسطينية (العلمانية)، وحركة المقاومة الإسلامية "حماس".
ويستعرض الكتاب تداعيات تأسيس السلطة الفلسطينية على الحركات النسوية/ النسائية، على مستوى تكوين مطالب جديدة (أجندة جديدة)، وما أدى إليه من تحقيق بعض الانجازات. كما يفحص اثر تشكل السلطة الفلسطينية، وبروز دور المنظمات غير الحكومية المتخصصة، على إضعاف شعبية الحركات الاجتماعية؛ سواء أكانت عمالية، أم طلابية، أم نسائية، وبخاصة على المستويين التنظيمي والتعبوي.
ويطرح الكتاب كيف أن الفراغ التنظيمي والتعبوي الذي تركته المنظمات النسوية المرتبطة بتجربة منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية، عملت حركة "حماس" على ملئه، ما أدى إلى تأسيس أول حركة نسائية فلسطينية إسلامية في الأراضي المحتلة. كما يقدم تحليلاً لطرق تفكير وآليات عمل النساء في تجربة حزب الخلاص الإسلامي، كأول تنظيم سياسي علني لحركة "حماس"، عن طريق تحليل طرق تنظيم النساء، وتطور خطابهن في الحركة، ما أدى إلى إدخال تغييرات مستمرة على فكر الحركة فيما يتعلق بالنساء.
ويسعى الكتاب إلى تقديم مساهمة نقدية حول فكر وتوجهات ما بعد الاستعمار، وكذلك بعض الانقساميات التي يتبناها البعض لدراسة المجتمعات العربية؛ مثل انقسامية "الحداثة/ التقليدية"، و"الإسلام/ العلمانية"، وذلك عبر فحص إمكانية تأسيس أرضية مشتركة قد يلتقي عليها كلا التوجهين في بعض المطالب والنقاط، وبخاصة في ظل استمرارية النضال التحريري من أجل الاستقلال.
تتوقف المادة البحثية في هذا الكتاب عند منتصف العام 2004، ولا تشمل الأحداث والتغيرات التي طرأت على الواقع الفلسطيني بعد الانتخابات التشريعية الأخيرة للعام 2006، والتي أدت إلى صعود حركة "حماس" إلى سدة الحكم.
