هذا الكتاب نفيت فيه تلك الشبهة، التي نادى بها بعض الجاحدين على العرب، وسار على منوالهم بعض الباحثين من المسلمين الذين تأثروا بالثقافات الغربية، فنفوا كل جديد ابتكره العرب في سبيل خدمة لغتهم وكتابهم، ووضحت أن منهج علماء العربية في البحث والتقعيد والتدوين منهج إسلامي صرف، وضحته وكشفت أصوله ومبادئه التي سار عليها، وأخذوا الحيطة والحذر في توثيق النص - سواء من حيث السند أو المتن - وهذه القواعد التي التزموا بها عرفت عندهم ولم تعرف عند غيرهم من أصحاب اللغات الأخرى، ولم تأخذ الأمم الأخرى غير العرب بها في توثيق لغاتهم، وهذا مما امتازت به العربية في منهجها عن غيرها من اللغات الأخرى، ثم وضحت العلاقة الوطيدة بين اللغويين والمحدثين في المنهج، وأثبتت أن منهج اللغويين منهج إسلامي بحت، وليس مقتبساً من المنهج اليوناني الذي طبق على اللغة الإغريقية، فأبطلت هذا الإدعاء الذي لا أساس له من الصحة، وبرئت علماء العربية من همة التقليد والتأثير بالثقافة اليونانية.
