ومنهنا تظهر أهمية المدخل المعرفي حول طبيعة الظواهر الإجتماعية علاوة على المبادئ المنهجية، التي تمكننا من الإنتقال من مجرد وصف الظواهر الإجتماعية إلى فهم روابطها الداخلية وأسس حركتها.
لا يوجد علم اجتماع يخلو من القيم وأحكام القيمة، فهذا العلم شديد الإرتباط بالتكوينات الأيدولوجية، وفضلاً عن ذلك فإنه أحد أشكال الوعي بالحياة الإجتماعية، ولا يكمن عزله عن القيم الإنسانية، ويصعب دراسة الظواهر الإجتماعية دون إلتزام بمواقف إنسانية، فإذا كان العلم يدعونا إلى عدم الخلط بين رغباتنا والحياة الواقعية فإن ذلك لا يلغي ضرورة الإلتزام تجاه الواقع الذي ندرسه.
