إن قوة الماركسية-وهو ما ستحاول أن تثبته هذه الدراسة-تكمن أساساً في طبيعتها العلمية الأصيلة، وفي ارتباطها بالحياة الذي لا ينفصم، وبالمصالح الأساسية للبشر، وبتطور القوى المنتجة ومجمل الثقافة الإنسانية، ارتباطها بالقضايا الحيوية الملحة لعصرنا الراهن. ولكي ندرك ذلك جيداً يتعين علينا أن نبدأ أولاً بدراسة الجذور التاريخية للماركسية وسوابقها المادية والروحية. وسيتعين علينا، فصلاً عن ذلك، أن نحلل تبلور مذهب ماركس وانجلس، وأن نحلل العناصر الأساسية المكونة للماركسية (الفلسفة، الاقتصاد السياسي، الاشتراكية العلمية) وتطورها وتطبيقها في شروط العصر الراهن. والدراسة التالية هي عرض موجز لهذه النقاط الرئيسية.
